On the evening of 24 June 2026, a major “doublet” earthquake struck Venezuela. It is one of the strongest seismic events recorded in the country in over a century. 

 

At least 4,734 people have been confirmed killed and over 16,740 people have been injured. Furthermore, over 17,907 people have been displaced, and over 50,000 are missing.

 

Numbers of casualties are expected to grow as the crisis remains ongoing. This is an active emergency. We will update this page as more information becomes available.

Islamic Relief's Response

Islamic relief has launched an emergency appeal to support the victims of Venezuelan twin earthquakes.

 

We are partnering with local authorities and international partners to deliver lifesaving aid. The disaster has cause widespread displacement and damage to homes health facilities, and essential infrastructure, leaving many families in temporary shelters and increasing humanitarian needs.

 

Priority needs identified by our local partners include shelter, healthcare, food security, WASH services, and cash assistance to support people affected by the disaster.
