Islamic Relief Australia and Melbourne Musalla are partnering together to help build a stronger community across Melbourne. Together, we are supporting youth development, family and aged welfare, and faith and learning, with a primary focus on Melbourne’s northern suburbs.
Melbourne Musalla is a not-for-profit community organisation guided by Islamic values and a commitment to public benefit. It exists to support young people, strengthen families and care for vulnerable community members.
Melbourne Musalla serves the wider Melbourne community, with its primary focus on the northern suburbs. Its priorities bring together youth development, family and aged welfare, and opportunities for worship and learning. This work aims to build a community where people of all ages can find connection and support.
Melbourne Musalla aims to help young people build confidence, develop leadership skills and strengthen their sense of identity through mentoring, youth engagement and recreational activities.
Its youth development focus combines positive social connections with structured Islamic education and opportunities to contribute to community life. The goal is to give young people encouragement, responsible role models and a welcoming place to belong.
Mental wellbeing is also part of this purpose, including the aim of supporting access to mental health welfare and counselling.

Melbourne Musalla’s welfare priorities include helping families and individuals facing financial hardship, illness or disadvantage through community support, charitable aid and emergency relief initiatives.
For older community members, the focus is on reducing isolation, maintaining connections to community life and helping them find appropriate support. Respect, dignity and sensitivity to individual circumstances guide this work.
Melbourne Musalla is working to secure burial plots with cemeteries in Melbourne’s northern suburbs. The aim is to improve local access to suitable Islamic burial arrangements and help meet the community’s future needs.
This initiative sits alongside its wider aim to help families with funeral arrangements and liaise with local hospitals. The focus is on compassionate guidance that respects Islamic practices and helps families understand the next steps during a difficult time.

Melbourne Musalla’s faith and learning focus includes 5 times salah and worship, Quran and Islamic education, religious gatherings and spiritual development.
The aim is to create opportunities for children, young people and adults to deepen their understanding of Islam and put its values into practice. Learning is connected to everyday responsibilities, including kindness, honesty and service to others.

Melbourne Musalla’s vision includes suitable community facilities and prayer spaces for worship, education, youth activities and welfare initiatives.
A dedicated community space would help bring these priorities together, particularly for people in Melbourne’s northern suburbs. It would provide a place for people to meet, participate in activities and strengthen connections across generations.
Your support can help Melbourne Musalla work towards its charitable priorities, including youth development, family and aged welfare, the burial plot initiative, and faith and learning.
Together, we can provide greater certainty for future planning, while volunteers and local businesses can contribute their time, skills and resources.
Help strengthen a community that supports people throughout their lives.
