We’re founded on the Islamic faith

We are actively developing distinctive approaches to the key issues facing our world, in the context of the Islamic faith. The Islamic faith recognises that people with wealth have a duty to those who are less fortunate, as defined in the Qur’an and Sunnah.  

We have a global network and extensive reach 

Our ability to meet global standards on humanitarian principles, accountability and transparency, and financial conduct has helped us to grow valuable relationships with institutional partners. Our Islamic identity and humanitarian mission often enable us to gain the trust of community gatekeepers. Particularly in complex environments like Gaza and Yemen, where humanitarian access remains severely constrained. This allows us to gain access to deliver life-changing protection. Enabling us to provide assistance where it’s needed most.

We have over 36 years of expertise

As a global organisation, Islamic Relief has helped millions of the world’s most vulnerable people over the past 36 years. In that time, we have developed a whole host of skills and expertise to respond immediately and effectively to natural disasters and conflict. Thus, developing long-term solutions that tackle the root causes of poverty.   

We’re locally and globally certified

As a leading international humanitarian organisation, and in line with our Islamic values, we commit to upholding the highest standards of neutrality, impartiality, and independence in delivering aid and development projects. This ensures that the communities we work with are included and empowered in every aspect of our programming. In recognition of this commitment, in 2017, Islamic Relief Worldwide became the first Muslim organisation, and only the tenth organisation globally, to attain Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) certification.   

Our global reputation and credibility mean that we can, and do, work with influential bodies and institutions that share our humanitarian goals. So we can create lasting change for those who need it most.

Locally, Islamic Relief Australia is an active member of the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID). We are a signatory to their Code of Conduct, which sets the highest standards of development practice.
