Pakistan Floods: Reflecting a Year on from the Disaster
As we mark the one-year anniversary of the devastating Pakistan floods, we reflect on the catastrophic and ongoing impact this natural disaster has had
In 2022, catastrophic floods sank one-third of the total area
of Pakistan. Tragically, over 1,700 people lost their lives in the disaster and a staggering 33 million people across the region
were impacted.
The devastation caused by the floods was unfathomable, as 2 million homes were destroyed, displacing 7.9 million vulnerable people. Today, the floods continue to have a devastating impact. Millions of people struggle to rebuild, and social vulnerability and poverty remain at an all-time high.

Since the onset of the disaster, our teams have been on the ground. We provide immediate and ongoing relief as part of our commitment to recovery efforts. One that extends far beyond the immediate aftermath of the floods.
Just over one year on from the catastrophe, your support has enabled our teams on the ground to transform the future of those who lost everything in the floods.
You’ve helped us build a staggering 6,420 permanent homes and 4,190 shelters for vulnerable families in the Balochistan and Sindh regions that have been impacted most by the devastation.
Each home is built with flood and earthquake-resilient measures in mind and meets practical and cultural requirements in terms of living space, a kitchen area and a bathroom. Help us continue to provide more shelters to those most in need in Pakistan.
