Australia has yet again been impacted by severe flooding with some areas experiencing their third flood in 8 months. Parts of Victoria and NSW have received more than one year’s worth of rain in a week.
Damage caused by the floods has already amounted to billions of dollars with no sign of relief. Assessing the full damage and impact of the floods has proven to be challenging with the weather system being both slow moving and widespread.
SES has responded to more than 72,000 requests for assistance and more than 3,400 flood rescues so far. However, there is an immediate need to assist people who have been displaced from their homes.
Islamic Relief Australia is working with community organisations responding to needs on the ground. In times of adversity like these, we are ready to support our community’s immediate and long-term requirements.
Our efforts in this appeal include providing food relief, shelter, clothing & household items, wellbeing support and provision for pets and animals. We pray that these challenging times help us as a community to build resilience and assist us in uniting together to help those in need.
