Ibrahim’s Story: Supported Through Rising Costs of Living
Ibrahim and his wife in Aceh, Indonesia, struggle with poverty and the rising costs of living. Here’s how Islamic Relief supported them.
Climate change has left Indonesia’s population more vulnerable to
natural disasters, devastating millions of lives. Among them, orphan families are hit the hardest.
Around 4.5 million orphan families, over 90% of whom live under the poverty line, are in dire need of infrastructure support for their homes, which are continuously damaged during earthquakes, floods
and tsunamis.

Our teams in Indonesia are helping build 1,000 habitable, safe and robust houses for orphan and needy families in areas prone to disasters. So far, 200 houses have been built.
These housing projects will have reinforced infrastructure, as well as rooms, latrines, furniture and bedding suited to each family’s unique needs. They aim to improve wellbeing and reduce vulnerability for these families, alleviating their suffering for future disasters.
Your generosity currently transforms the lives of 20 orphan families in need of support. Together, we provide these families with more than shelter—it’s hope for a brighter tomorrow.
