Sumud and Palestine
Sumud, or steadfastness, is a word that has become synonymous with the people of Palestine. Here is what it means and its significance.
Gaza endured over 600 days of massacre and misery. With no permanent ceasefire in sight, airstrikes continue to rain on Gaza.
The death toll climbs to over 62,000 Palestinians killed in Gaza since October 2023, with a heartbreaking over 18,000 children and 9,000 women among the casualties.
Over 159,000 people, at least, have been injured. More than 11,200 people are missing, with 70% of them being children and women.
The suffering of the people also continues. All 2.1 million of Gaza’s population have been forcibly displaced at least once. With displaced individuals confined to less than 14% of the Gaza Strip’s territory.
Gaza is also in ruins, with 81% of all infrastructure destroyed or damaged, and only 50% of hospitals are partially functional. Overall, the situation remains a crisis in need of dire attention.
